Kathy Scalzo is President of K.Scalzo & Associates, a Vancouver based consulting group. For the past twenty years, Kathy has assisted individual, groups and organizations initiate, plan for and adapt to change. Her expertise in strategic planning, organization development, change and transition planning, and facilitation and training has been used by more than 200 health care organizations, professional associations, and non-profit agencies.

Kathy is the co-author of the British Columbia Bestselling book - Picking Up the Pieces Moving Forward After Surviving Cancer  (Raincoast Books. 2006). The book is based on four years of qualitative research which includes interviews with over 200 survivors of different types of cancer, as well as feedback from focus groups and conference workshop participants. In the book, Kathy applies her experience, expertise and practical 'know how' in planning and implementing change to the stated needs and wants of cancer survivors. She presents a planned change approach to help survivors address the physical, emotional, spiritual, and relationship issues they face as they seek to move forward in their recovery and their life.

As an organization development consultant, Kathy has assisted large organizations as well as small work groups in planning and goal setting, issue identification, change and transition management, conflict resolution, establishing new workplace agreements, and team building.  Her clients include such diverse organizations as: BC Paraplegic Society, Canadian Medical Association, Royal Inlands Hospital Foundation, Kamloops Hospice, Northern British Columbia Mental Health Services, Ovarian Cancer Canada, Richmond Savings Credit Union, Girl Guides of Canada, Vancouver Coastal Health Society, and the YWCA.

Kathy holds a Masters of Science in Organization Development from Pepperdine University (Los Angeles, California) and a B.Sc. in Occupational Therapy from the University of Washington (Seattle, Washington).

GOVERNANCE - BOARD OF DIRECTORS EXPERIENCE

Currently serving on the Board of the Alzheimer Society of BC, Kathy has also served in the past on the Board of the BC Rehabilitation Foundation as well as  HOPE House Cancer Society. On both of these Boards of Directors, she held the position of President and Past President. In the past, Kathy has also served on: the Board of the Centre for Faith & Healing, committees of the board for Ronald MacDonald House and the Boys & Girls Club, and was the President of the BC Society of Occupational Therapists.
